Trademarks for names people already say out loud

Coralie searches, files and defends the names, logos and slogans that a business is known by.

Most trademark trouble starts with a name chosen before anyone looked. We search the federal register, the state filings and the market itself, tell you how crowded the name is, and file only when we think it can hold. If a bigger company writes to you about your name, we answer.

What the work covers

  • Clearance searches with a written opinion

  • Federal applications, by class

  • Replies to office actions

  • Watching the register for names close to yours

  • Cease-and-desist letters, sent and answered

In order

From a name to a registration

  1. 01

    Step 1: Search

We look at the register and the market and send a written opinion on how safe the name is.

  2. 02

    Step 2: File

We write the description of goods and services with you, choose the classes and file.

  3. 03

    Step 3: Answer

If the examiner raises a question, we reply. Most replies are a narrower description or a short argument.

  4. 04

    Step 4: Keep

We calendar the filings that keep a registration alive, and tell you a few months before each one.

Questions

Before you file a trademark

What does a trademark search cost?

A search with our written opinion is one flat fee per name. An application is one flat fee for the first class and a smaller flat fee for each class after it. We quote each in writing before we start. Government filing fees are extra, and we tell you the amount before we file.

Will my mark be registered?

Nobody can promise that. An examiner at the trademark office reviews every application. Our search tells you how likely an objection is before you spend the filing fee.

Do I need a trademark if I have an LLC?

Yes, if the name matters to you. Registering a company with the state doesn’t give you rights in the name for your products. A trademark does.
